Race Background
Lessons learned from last year has been embedded on a race that builds on the excellent work Haslemere Border Athletic Club (HBAC) and the Black Down and Hindhead Supporters (BD&HH) of the National Trust have done since 2013.
This event will cater for all the family and will have the following events:
10k (over 16 years old)
5k (over 12 years old)
3.5k (over 9 years old)
0.75k (over 6 years old), and
a 50 metre dash (under 6s; can add extra age groups to this event for maximum inclusion)
Many will have run in events on these commons before, with many entrants drawn from local clubs; although it is expected that this race will appeal to a wider audience as we deliver our vision.
Entries are by online circulated to local clubs & on the club website, as well as the National Trust publicity machine. Online entries are via the online entry facility provided by Eventbrite and others if appropriate. Entries will also be taken on the day.
The 10k race is staged over a one-lap hilly, multi terrain course, starting and finishing near the National Trust Café car park; it consists of a mixture of bridleways and footpaths with marshal controlled junctions at regular intervals around the course; there are no road junctions to negotiate. The junior events re-use parts of this route and the marshal stations and all events share the same start and finish area.
The whole of the race is run on National Trust owned land for which the organisers have sought permission.
Water stations are provided at approximately 6.5k for the 10k and at the finish. No sponge stations are provided. Limited changing facilities as well as toilet facilities, drinks and food are available near the start/finish area and there is a café and hotel in the area which will be open for the duration of the race. Competitors are directed to the National Trust car park and surrounding areas which are adjacent to the start area. Most of which cannot be accessed from the roads affecting the start.

WHY ENTER?
RUAlive wants to help local communities feel alive whilst raising money for your local schools and the Black Down and Hindhead Supporters of the National Trust. Thank you for donating your chosen entry fee to one of these. Our events for participants are a level playing field:
• We all have to put on our running/walking shoes
• We all have to challenge ourselves mentally and physically to finish the route
• Take your “couch to 5k” to the next level or push your elevation and distance boundaries if you are a seasoned or “wish to be” ultrarunner
Description:
Calling all runners and walkers of all ages
Help raise as much money as you can for the Black Down and Hindhead Supporters of the National Trust and the local state school PTAs to say a huge thank you for providing beautiful areas we can escape into nature and support our children’s educational journey in these challenging times.
All the proceeds go to charities so please challenge yourself and your friends and family to get out into nature and complete that distance you have always wanted to do. You will get a lovely sustainable medal. Also knowing you have helped the National Trust keep their places looking like they should for us and keep our schools functioning.

Watch this space
Thank you again for taking part in our inaugural running of the Punch Bowl Challenge. Please find above the results for the 0.75k, 3.5k and 5k. As you know some of the race numbers reference a different name due to the last minute rush of entrants and kind persons handing their bib numbers to others to use.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
